Why Personal Development Is Necessary For Young Entrepreneurs
Why Personal Development Is Necessary For Young Entrepreneurs.
Set a goal to become a Millionaire. Not for the money… The money is great, but set the goal to become a Millionaire because of what it will make of you to achieve it.
Why Personal Development Is Necessary For Young Entrepreneurs:
Personal Development is necessary for young entrepreneurs as well as it is necessary and essential for all entrepreneurs.
The act of improving ones self is what creates the needed and necessary change to overcome new obstacles and challenges that the young entrepreneur will consistently face, day after day. Without change, there is no growth. And without growth, there is only defeat.
There are 2 perspectives of life that will spur a man on toward actively changing himself. These mindsets are inspiration and desperation. Both can be powerful catalysts for the young entrepreneur. It is essential to realize that we have ultimate responsibility over our lives, choices, and situations, and must consistently retain that responsibility as we go through the process of change and betterment that we call Personal Development. At times we cannot control the circumstances or environment to which we are made subject, and yet we can always maintain a level of awareness and responsibility in order to take the power into our hands to affect change. Too often people live life unconscious and reactive, but for the young entrepreneur seeking to become successful, he must be proactive and conscious about all that he does.
“If you want to be wealthy and happy, learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. Working hard on your job will earn you a living. Working hard on yourself will earn you a fortune.” – Jim Rohn
I am reminded of Jim Rohn’s teaching about success and personal development where he learned, “If you want to be wealthy and happy, learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. Working hard on your job will earn you a living. Working hard on yourself will earn you a fortune.”
These words ring true and for me, just as they were for Jim Rohn, they became the spark of inspiration which lead me to fully immersing myself into personal development.
Personal Development and Self Improvement are a lifelong process and journey… One which we must partake of daily if we wish to make more of ourselves. Personal Development will be the most challenging assignment you undertake. There is no end. But if you undertake it, you will be lead down a path to wealth and riches in every sense of the words.
What You Become In Life vs. What You Get
What you become in life is ultimately what leads to you to all that you will ever get or have. Success is not something to be pursued, but rather something that you attract by the person you become. When you cease to chase, and simply become, you begin to shape and grow and truly change. When we chase things it means that they elude us. But the proper perspective to hold on all that we desire to become is that we already have the limitless potential within ourselves to become all that we desire. Therefore we need not chase, but simply to become, and that becoming is a process of decision and effort. The difference is that in chasing, the destination is rarely reached from the long road, but in becoming, you already see yourself at the destination, you are just merely learning to settle in and explore.
Some sage wisdom from Jim Rohn tells us why personal development is necessary for young entrepreneurs and that when we are working a job, its far better to ask ourselves “What am I becoming?” rather than, “What am I getting out of this?” The difference is paramount as the second, if asked in isolation of the first, is shortsighted and fully misses the mark of a lifelong perspective which will often leave a man in utter shock as he wakes up one day and looks at his life as if he has no clue how he got where he is. The better question, “What am I becoming here?” is one of profound perspective. What will this job or situation make of me? If I stay here, will I like who I will become? Will I develop key skills, abilities, and qualities that will serve my overall vision for my life? It’s questions like these that lead a man down the path to riches.
Of course asking yourself, “What am I getting here?” is also an important question, as you may not desire to work for the terms… but don’t exclude what you will become from what you will be getting. Who you become will always set the standard for what you attract and get in the future.
If you focus on personal development and self-improvement, the “getting” will come naturally and always be increasing. But if a young entrepreneur focuses on what they will be “getting,” the becoming may never happen.
Having More Impact Through Personal Development
As a young entrepreneur who may be building a company or business of your own, begin to think of the impact that you’re having on the lives around you… those of your employees and your customers. The more you grow and improve yourself, the more ability you have to add value to those in your sphere of influence. And when you have more to offer to others, you get more in return. This is a virtuous cycle that builds up and betters all involved.
One of the reasons why personal development is necessary for young entrepreneurs is that what you earn is in direct correlation to the value that you add to the marketplace. If you want to earn more, add more value. But how do you increase the amount of value that you add? You’ve got to become more than you are. As you grow, your experience grows, your skills and abilities grow, and your perspectives grow. All of this lead to you having more to offer.
Building Real Wealth
It is rare indeed that income will ever surpass personal development. If you make much, you must be adding much value. If you’re making little, you’re probably offering little value. Personal Development is a journey that one must go on to both increase their ability to add value, and their ability to retain what is earned. If you haven’t become worthy of a million dollars, how can you expect to keep it? Jim Rohn is known for teaching on becoming a millionaire. He says, if you end up with a million dollars overnight, best you become a millionaire really quick or you’ll lose it. Become the type of person worthy of having a million dollars of you’ll never keep it. Just take a look at the many overnight millionaires in sports, lottery, gambling, etc… who declare bankruptcy a few years down the line.
It is through Personal Development that you learn how to keep what you get, and get even more. Through “Becoming” you receive the “Getting.”
Jim Rohn always used to say, “To have more than you’ve got, you’ve got to become more than you are.”
“To have more than you’ve got, you’ve got to become more than you are.”
– Jim Rohn
In conclusion, understand why personal development is necessary for young entrepreneurs. You’ve got to become more than you are, change how you think, build on your skills and abilities and what you’re capable of, add more value to the marketplace by becoming more valuable yourself. Don’t focus on getting, focus on becoming. If you get, but don’t become, you’ll lose what you have.
And always maintain responsibility on your journey to wealth.
